Wax Notes | February 2015 (1)

Have you heard? Enchanted Candle Co. is celebrating their 1-Year Anniversary on 1 March, and they will be accepting all custom orders placed that day! That's pretty amazing because they only offer 5-10 custom spots per month so you had to be really fast whenever the lists opens. Go check out her Facebook group for more information!

Debra may have a smaller fan base than most other established vendors but, boy, are they (we) dedicated and fanatical, the custom spots go QUICK. I haven't managed to get on one yet so I am definitely breaking my wax ban for this one. Despite three previous orders, there are still quite a few single scents and house blends I have yet to try and I have a few custom blends up my sleeve. I am buckling down to start planning it right now!

Earth Angel (Rosegirls)
This is mostly bakery blend, I can hardly detect any sweet lavender which really disappoints me. That said, the vanilla and cake pops scent is very nice and I can see why bakery fans go wild over this one. Medium-high throw, medium scent impact.

Queen B (Crabby Candle Co.)
I have been hoarding this one for awhile now but it's time to melt it. If Crabby does come back, I would love to get more of this scent. It's a sweet-spicy floral scent, as if I am inhaling a bouquet of flowers. Medium scent throw, medium-high scent impact.

Springtime Breaktime (Enchanted Candle Co.)
This one took it's own sweet time to develop but it is so good once it got going! The honey anchors this scent blend, with the cookies rounding the sharp, overwhelming edges I feel honey can get. The lemon keeps things interesting. I really like this and I would definitely get more! Medium high throw, high scent impact.

Bamboo & Sugar Cane (Ten Digit Creations)
The epitome of a fresh, green scent. The Sugar Cane really helps to take the sting out of the green note but I do wish it sweetened the blend more. High throw, medium scent impact.

Lemon Tea Party (The Bathing Garden)
I really like Lemon Tea scents and I am making it my mission this year to find me a regular wax supplier for it! Although this TBG version is pretty yummy, I hate not knowing if it will be offered again in their restocks. Life is too stressful in other areas for me to stress more about wax! Medium throw, medium scent impact.

Chamomile Apple (Ten Digit Creations)
I noticed Chamomile Apple is now on TDC's clearance list and I needed to try it out quickly because if this is a scent that I really like, I am charging in and buying up all the leftover stock! During the first melt, I kept thinking "this smells like lipstick" which kind of turned me off a litte. But on second melt, the scent mellowed out, I like this scent but I don't think I like it THAT much. Although I must say that TDC has a fantastic Apple scent! Medium high throw, medium scent impact.

Fruit Loops (Tiffany Candles)
My favourite feel-good scent! Tiffany's version is amazing! Medium high throw, high scent impact. Tiffany's is fast becoming a favourite vendor, I can definitely see myself going there for regular orders especially since she's open ALL THE TIME!

Cactus & Sea Salt (Lasting Scent Candles)
I have been meaning to melt this tart for the longest time because I received it in a destash almost a year ago and I was a little worried about how old it might be. I needn't have been worried, it's throwing like crazy - High throw, medium high scent impact. Cactus & Sea Salt have always been a favourite scent in this house but this blend is a little sweeter than I remembered it to be and it makes me wonder how it might be if I custom blend it with an even sweeter note!

Repeat Melts
Orange Marmalade (The Bathing Garden)
Mad Hatters' Tea Party (The Bathing Garden)
Lavender & Chamomile (Enchanted Candle Co.)

Wax Notes | Jan 2015 (2)

This week was incredibly hectic and everytime I had to change out my melts, I selected repeat melts because I didn't even want to spend time snapping and editing photos of new melts. Crazy, huh. I also had very little cause to change the melt in my bedroom this week because the Sugared Jasmine tart just wouldn't quit putting out scent! If TDC tarts continue to perform at this level, they are going to shoot up to the top of my wax faves list.

As of right now, I have no other draft posts to share on my blog! But what I am planning is a Favourite Wax Company type posts to round out my one year blogiversary! I can't believe it's been a year, time flies!

Passionate Kisses (Crabby Candle Co.)
This one has shades of Serendipity in it, with dominant cherry and almond scents. It's very nice and sexy, as the name of it suggests.

Sugared Jasmine (Ten Digit Creations)
For much of the beginning, I was smelling the soapy and airy scent I associate with violets. It's a little incongruent with the sweet jasmines and sandalwood (which is a great combination on the whole!) but on the whole, this is lovely, soft and relaxing. Medium-high throw, medium scent impact. I melted for five days (5 tealights) and scent is still pumping out!

Repeat Melts
Alice in Lavenderland (The Bathing Garden)
Watermelon / Strawberry Kiwi Sorbet / Raspberry Guava (Sniff My Tarts)
The Sultan's Morrocan Massage Oil (Enchanted Candle Co.)
Orange Marmalade (The Bathing Garden)
Gardenia Coconut Cream (The Bathing Garden)
Duchess Apple Tarte (The Bathing Garden)

Haul | K's Kreations (1)

K's Kreations must have elves working all round the clock for them. I ordered on 1 December and my order shipped the very next day! What sorcery is this! The package smells amazing as well, apple scents are seeping through the package like crazy!

Afternoon Tea A wonderfully refreshing tea fragrance, sweet and with a touch of lemon. You will be reaching for your own glass after smelling this one.
Yummy, I do love tea scents and this is one I definitely want to keep this one around!

Annette's Secret Sangria A mixture of fresh fruits and wine will fill your room with yummy goodness!
I can smell the wine/grape base note of this scent. It makes me think of grape sweets.

Barlett Pear A very nice, juicy pear fragrance.
I have been on the look out for a good pear fragrance and this one is good but it smells very like apples? Weird.

Dippity Daze You will be dazed and amazed by this wonderful blend of berries, apples and Serendipity.
I think this is a good blend of the three scents, a very fruity and happy scent!

Frozen Margarita The fresh citrus fragrance of lime and tequila that will have you imagining a tall cool drink on the beach.
Wow, I want a drink of this! So refreshing!

Green Tea & Lemongrass This bright and natural smelling citrus begins with a top note of orange Valencia, bergamot tea and plum wine. The heart combines jasmine, violet, lavender and orange flowers. The dry down is a clean citrus musk.
Fresh and spa-like. I feel calm just sniffing this.

Lavender Fields This soothing blend begins with a top note of lavender and fresh ozone with a soft touch of woody undertones. Not harsh or overpowering at all; a very relaxing fragrance.
This lavender scent is so unlike the rest that I have. It reminds me of baby soap. The lavender isn't immediately apparent but you know it's in there!

Peach Peppermint Schnapps Exclusive house blend. A mix of peaches and peppermint which is divine.
I was very curious about this blend because I have heard of the drink but have yet to try it. I would say it's a sweet peppermint scent, not particularly peachy on cold sniff.

Spring Rain A musky accord enhanced with a fresh floral bouquet of carnations, tiger lilies, alyssums, orchids, and roses, with hints of fresh greenery.
This is such a pretty floral scent! Roses is the most familiar scent among the florals, there's a soapy scent too.

Southern Tea Icy tea with extra lemon and a sprig of mint leaf is one drink I never grow tired of. Yum!
Another great tea scent, the mint leaf really makes the difference!

Yellow Rose Blend of tart & tangy lemon and rose jam.
The lemon scent is really great here but I can't sniff out any of the rose jam scent. :(

Magical Christmas The wonder of Christmas - mandarin, green clover, fir needle, sparkling spruce, cardamom and cedar bark with bottom notes of guaiacwood, precious woods and allspice. (Free sample)
I don't like or dislike this scent. But it's not something I would choose on a daily basis.

Baked Wildberry Bread Wildberry mousse, zucchini bread and more make up this yummy scent! (Free sample)
I am not a fan of  zucchini bread scents but objectively this is a good blend, I can sniff both wildberry mousse and zucchini bread equally.

Miss Frosty Mint mixes with powdery pink sugar and melts together with creamy sweetened milk to bring out the tones of a winter forest. (Free sample)
I think this scent might be mislabelled because it does not smell like mint, pink sugar or sweetened milk. I think of citrus and woods when I sniff this.

Yabber Dabber Doo Cake A delectable slice of banana cake slathered with yummy gooey caramel makes this scent a mouth watering one. (Free sample)
Very true to the scent description! It smells really good but it's not really up my scent melting alley.

Apple Orchard Imagine biting into a juicy red apple!
K's Kreations is known for having her rainbow line of products where a percentage of the sales in this line is donated back to a good cause in remembrance of her son. I definitely wanted to contribute a tiny little bit and it helps that the rainbow brittle is gorgeous, and even more so in real life. I chose to have glitter on it as well. K's Apple Orchard scent is sooo good! When she stated that she's picky with her apple scents, I knew that this would a be good one and I wasn't disappointed.

Bare Naked Lady A fresh, clean scent with lemon, lime, oranges and a hint of ozone.
Part of the Katch 'Ems line where they are limited stocks of these scents. Among the three citruses, the limes is the strongest. I really like the ozone scent underlying the citruses.

Picnic in the Park A nice relaxing blend with fresh ozone notes along with apple and lemon tones as well.
Part of the Katch 'Ems line where they are limited stocks of these scents. It's a very pleasant scent but it's not as fruity as I thought it would be. There is a faint bakery note underlining it.

Wax Notes | Jan 2015 (1)

New year, new melts! This fortnight, I might have melted the most scents ever. I am so glad to be getting back in the swing of things, and it goes without saying I really need to make a dent in my wax melts collection. Can you believe that melts from my first few 2014 orders have yet to be used up yet? Those are definitely the priority when I select what to put on.

Are you waiting on any orders? I am waiting on one outstanding order with SMT, I was in the second opening group so I am not sure when it will get to my name on the list. I am at once impatient to receive my order (because there are some custom scent blends I did and I am excited to find out if they smell good) and dreading for my name to be called (because that's when I am giving myself permission to make a couple of orders but I really need to use up what I have!). Am I even making sense? I hope I am!

Gardenia Coconut Cream (The Bathing Garden)
I wonder why didn't I melt this sooner, it's a lovely, creamy, sweet floral scent! I can smell the slight nuttiness of the coconut but it really is very subtle and acts as great foil to the gardenia. Loving this one! High throw on this one.

Daydreamer (Two Timing Tart)
An unusual, fresh grass type scent. I put it off for awhile because it smelled very green but it really wasn't so bad. But not something I am into right now. Who knows maybe my scent preferences will change in a few months.

Duchess' Apple Rose Tarte (The Bathing Garden)
This was the sample from my second order with TBG. I finally got around to chopping it up a few days ago (procrastinator, much!). Fruity-floral scents are totally up my alley and I liked this very much. The apple is made heavier and more sensual by the rose, this is a great scent to melt in the evenings as you wind down. On first melt: medium throw, strong scent impact. On second melt: low throw, medium scent impact.

Sun-Ripened Raspberry (Super Tarts)
I like how this scent manages to evoke the feeling of the "sun" by not allowing the raspberry scent to be too sweet and juicy. There is a small tinge of sour/bitter that makes me think that I could be biting into this raspberry right in the fields.

Alice in Lavenderland (The Bathing Garden)
Basic, herbal, sweet lavender. On first melt: medium throw and scent impact. Didn't last beyond a second melt.

Serendipity Spell (Crabby Candle Co.)
I like this scent, it's sweet and pleasant, with a touch of grape fruitness. I melted the whole tart in the whole office and the throw was incredibly high. My door opens out to a lounge of sorts and it was scenting up the entire lounge too!

That One Night At Summer Camp (Two Timing Tart)
Very sweet, marshmallow scent but it isn't cloying. On first melt: medium throw and scent impact.

Orange Marmalade (The Bathing Garden)
This is a really great scent, smells exactly like orange marmalade and I am really enjoying the energy of it. Medium-high throw, medium scent impact. However, the throw is inconsistent, sometimes it's spread well, sometimes I can barely scent it.

Tropical Twist (Glitterati Candle Co.)
Not as tropical fruity as I would expect from its name but it's still an uplifting citrus blend, probably blended with mangoes and a slight bite of ginger? High scent throw and strong scent impact. Like the Crabby tart a few above, it scented the hall outside my office. The crazy thing that it's probably only 1/4 of the Crabby tart and it's performing at the same intensity. It only lasted two melts.

Lavender Mint (Ten Digit Creations)
Medium-high throw, medium scent impact. A little lighter on throw than I expected for TDC. but with a scent like that, I don’t mind that it’s not as strong otherwise it would be overpowering. A very nice herbal lavender, the mint blends wells with it. Sometimes I get a hint of soap. definitely a repurchase.

Livin' La Vida Juicy (Glitterati Candle Co.)
I really like how the vanilla musk transforms an otherwise straight-forward fruity scent to something a little more mysterious and sexy. I would love to get more of this scent if I ever get on the customs order list.

Sweet Lolli (Super Tarts)
Fun, sweet, candy scent. It reminds me of fruity Mentos! Super high scent throw and high scent impact, something I have come to expect from Super Tarts.

Haul | Tiffany Candles (1)

I have heard lots of good things about Tiffany Candles ever since I came back into the wax world last year. For awhile, I wasn't sure how the company worked, was it custom or RTS with restocks from her facebook group. But I finally figured out that the shop was always open and only certain items like loaves or chunklets were RTS. When Tiffany put out a 10% discount for her Black Friday, I knew I had to order. Despite the holiday rush, my custom order shipped out by the 4th working day, now that's fast!

I made a small-ish order. I am a bit embarrassed by how much I have spent on wax this year so I am trying to cut back while still trying out new vendors. I doubt I will be ordering very much next year as I work through my stash!

Apple Strudel A hearty apple top note w/ sugar, cinnamon & baked crust notes.
The baked, sour apple scent is captured so well in this scent. I love it, one of my favourites!

Barbie Girl Tart Kiwi, middle notes of lilac and tigerlily, with fresh base notes of pineapples and pears.
I think this is one Tiffany's more popular custom blend and it's really good! The base note of pineapples really lends a tropical air to this scent!

Berry Me Alive Top notes of mandarin orange, bergamot and tangerine; middle notes of peach, strawberries and raspberries with hints of apple and grapes sprinkled with shaved coconuts.
My first thought: Fizzy! Once I sniffed a little harder, I really like the citrus top notes, the strawberries and raspberries sweeten things up!

Blonde Moment An iced champagne mixed with rich, sweet raspberry and cranberry.
Blonde Moment was a hugely popular scent in the wax community about a year ago but I have never sniffed it till this order. I like the wholesome sweetness of it but it has a little minty edge to it. Definitely a summer scent!

Creamy Fruit Slices Creamy vanilla blended with fresh fruit slices.
This is yummy! It reminds me of a citrus powder drink though.

Lemon Cheesecake A creamy cheesecake combined with just the right amount of lemon.
Favourite! I love the sweetened lemon in here!

Rain Fresh Citrus fresh and clean rain scent.
Wow, I love the fresh, ozone scent here. I would love to have this as a shower gel!

I bought the following in 3-packs.

Fruity Loops Smells just like the fruit flavored rings cereal. (yellow)
One of my favourite scents of all time! I finally have more!

Rosemary Mint Fresh rosemary softened with cool, earthy notes & crisp garden mint. (green)
Another popular scent of Tiffany's! I knew it had to be good so I went with a 3-pack. So good, the garden mint hits you in the face hard but it's sweetened and gentled by the rosemary. I find it a rather invigorating scent!

Sinus Relief Clear your head with this eucalyptus, spearmint & peppermint blend. (turquiose)
Ooh, this is good! My sinuses are clearing just sniffing this!

Tiffany is so generous with her samples, even for a small order like mine.

Christmas Cookies Candy Cane blended with Sugar Cookies
The Candy Cane mostly overpowers the Sugar Cookies. It's quite good!

Lemon + Birthday Bash
I think I am very selective with my bakery scents, if they have Lemon in it, I am good! This reminds me of Fruit Loops.

Winter Dreams Festive aroma of cinnamon, clove and mulberry with hints of pine.
Mmm, the Mulberry is a great scent. It reminds me of the Apple Strudel scent.

Haul | Enchanted Candle Company (4)

Happy new year to everyone, I hope you had a wonderful Christmas with your family and lovely New Year's! I am still making my way through my haul posts but I am definitely making some progress here! :)

This is my fourth order with Enchanted, the most I have ever ordered from any company! Shows how much I love them! The theme scent of this order is PEPPERMINT. I really like Enchanted's peppermint scent and there were so many great combinations that I just had to order them all to try. If you haven't ordered from Enchanted, I highly encourage everyone to get an order in whenever she opens. Her scents are delicious, scent throw is strong and it's always a breeze to order from her website. Truly a hidden gem in the wax world!

Long Winter's Nap Vanilla, lavender, peppermint, pink sugar
This blend is a lot like TBG's Sleepy but I like this a lot better with that little addition of the lavender.

The Sultan's Moroccan Massage Oil Get pampered with the sultan with this tingling oil made from rosemary, peppermint, and a touch of lavender.
Re-purchase. Because it's just that good!

Just A Head Cold Eucalyptus, spearmint and lemon
This one is STRONG! Stronger than Tiffany Candles' Sinus Relief. As I inhale, I can feel the eucalyptus going down my chest. Definitely one for when you have a cold.

Walt's Lemon Meringue Pie Lemon with the added creaminess of a towering meringue topping and a hint of pie crusts.
Re-purchase. Because it's so good!

I like that Deborah replaced the ribbons she used for these bags with twist ties. It's much easier to open and close a bag, and more secure as well.

Christmas Cabernet The perfect holiday wine with the scent of berries and oak.
Mm, this one is lovely. I can really smell the berries-infused wine.

Citrus Noel Creamy citrus with vanilla bean noel.
VBN is very strong in this scent but I can sniff out a little citrus. I hope it comes out more in melting!

Cranberry Balsam Citrus, rose, tart cranberries, and balsam.
Oh I love this, it's such a wonderful combination of citrus and florals.

Jack Frost A crisp clean peppermint with vanilla bean.
When I sniff this, I think masculine and clean. Very nice.

Peppermint Meringue Pink sugar, marshmallow, peppermint
Very sweet and a basic peppermint blend scent. Yummy!

Strawberry Peppermint Ice Cream Peppermint ice cream with added strawberry
This might be my least favourite in this order. Enchanted's strawberry is not of the juicy variety and has a mothball-like scent. But I will have to reserve some judgement and melt it first.

Eucalyptus Perdita Napa
This is a customer blend. I would never have thought of this combination in a million years. I like it! The eucalyptus is all-encompassing and I can also detect that bite from Perdita (lemon mint leaf). Napa isn't immediately apparent but I feel like it helps to mellow the overall blend.

Santa's Sleigh Peppermint and leather.
I quite like this combination. It's surprisingly comforting and good.

Wax Notes | Dec 2014

Happy New Year's Eve, everyone! I hope you have happy plans for tonight, whatever it may be, a night out on the town or a cozy evening in with your loved ones. :)

I was really busy this December, preparing for an incredibly packed calendar of events for January. So rather than making two wax notes posts as I usually do, I got lazy and decided to just keep the posts running for the rest of the month. You don't mind, right? :)

You might notice as you scroll down this post that my cream warmer has suffered a little mishap. I was trying to knock out a particularly troublesome piece of wax when I got a little too enthusiastic and a chunk of the ceramic was broken off as well. Now it looks like someone took a chomp out of it!

Tuscan Fields (Thirty Street Wax)
Wow! This tart has barely melted and it's begin to throw like crazy! Sweet yet clean and green scent. Very slightly acidic but in a pleasant way. It also has a syrupy sweet quality to it. I love complex blends like these!

Zucchini Noel Surprise (Up The Creek)
I probably should have cut this chunk up in half but I was lazy and I wanted to test out the theory about small and large chunks and how it affects throw. My conclusion is less is more! I decided to melt this on a cool, rainy night and it was the perfect, mellow blend of sweet and spice for me. The throw was medium to medium-high but it didn't last beyond two tealights.

Blue Sugar Gin Martini (Two Timing Tart)
I am melting an entire 2oz cup but there is barely any scent. From what I can sniff, it's an interesting alcoholic blend. I would drink this. Hee!

Sinus Relief (Tiffany Candles)
This wax tarts from Tiffany's came just in time, I have been really congested today and after popping this in, I can feel my nose clearing! Refreshing! My mother claims she can smell this clear across the hall from my room into hers, which makes this wax very very high throwing indeed.

Candy Crush (Crabby Candle Co.)

To my nose, this is a sweet grape candy-like scent but with a twist - a little caramel sweetness mixed in. It's pleasant but not a scent that grabs me. Medium scent throw.

Candy Crush (Up The Creek)
I thought it would be interesting to melt two identically named scents in succession to find out if they might be the same scent oil. I think they might be the same but UTC's is slightly fruitier. This is a sweet fruity scent, not citrusy. Medium scent throw.

Pina Colada (Super Tarts) - Not pictured, I forgot to take a picture!
Weirdly, I keep thinking of cookies while it was melting. But I can also detect yummy, tropical pineapples and rum! I have come to associate Super Tarts with a high scent throw initially but it peters out later.

Just A Head Cold (Enchanted)
I had a really bad sneeze that day and I needed to try this out in hopes that it will help clear my stuffed up nose and throat. I am not sure if I am really stuffed up or the throw isn't very strong. But when it does get in my nose, I can feel it just go down my lungs! The second night I melted this, I decided I was definitely congested, the throw was incredibly strong!

Repeat Melts
Winds in the East (Enchanted)
Luscious Lemon Lollies (L3WW)
Lemon Curd & Rose Milk (TBG)
